“Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” Gallops Into RFH November 18th, 19th, and 20th
Rumson – It’s another winner for the Tower Players of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School as the hilarious farce “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” makes its way to the stage. Performances are set for Friday, November 18th and Saturday, November 19th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 20th at 1 p.m.
Tickets are ten dollars for general admission, and six dollars for students and seniors. Admission is free for RFH students with an SGA card.
Outrageous fun for audiences of all ages, “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” tells the story of Sir Gawain (Calvin Bruno). As a knight in Camelot, Sir Gawain is compelled to complete a brave deed each year. Because of her long-standing feud with Merlin the Wizard (Arnold Muralt), evil witch Morgan LaFaye (Rachel Makstein) has threatened to destroy Camelot if the court cannot produce the bravest knight in the kingdom. Since Sir Gawain has not yet completed his brave deed, he is called upon by King Arthur (Michael Bogardus) to prove himself. King Arthur orders Sir Gawain to challenge and defeat the formidable Green Knight (Cameron Spector) in order to save Camelot. Unfortunately for Sir Gawain, he is as “un-brave” as they come and is fairly uninterested in becoming the bravest knight in the land. He accepts the challenge, however, and begins his journey to prove himself and win the hand of his true love, Elaine (Sara Safarian).
Will Sir Gawain defeat the Green Knight and bring peace to the kingdom? Along with the answer to this burning question, “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” delivers lively music, dancing, and fun interaction with the talented Tower Players – who, as part of the rollicking performance, will bring young audience members up to dance with them.
“Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” is directed by Suzanne Sweeney with Kasi Sweeney as Assistant Director. Choreography is by Jen Costa, and costume design is by Carole Malik. Matt Leddin is overseeing set design and tech crew. Stefania Flecca is play production coordinator.
