Care Package Drive
December 13th, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — October 16, 2012
Rumson, NJ — Building upon their track record of success, members of the Character Education Club at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School are hoping to collect more donations than ever before during this year’s Care Package Drive. The students are striving to deliver a record number of items representing the comforts of home to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Assisting them for the first time in this endeavor are youth volunteers from the Long Branch Housing Authority’s Evolve Education Program, who will work with the RFH students to help to assemble and ship the packages.
The Character Education Club is requesting help from the local community to make this team effort a resounding success. The items most needed by troops include the highly popular 5-hour energy drinks as well as instant coffee, gum, candy, playing cards, magazines, books, DVDs, white socks, personal hygiene products, beef jerky, granola bars, Ramen noodles, powdered drink mixes, and nuts. The students will also collect toys such as footballs, soccer balls, baseballs, and Frisbees for distribution to children in the region.
Donated items can be dropped off in the RFH Guidance Office during school hours. Monetary contributions are also welcomed and will be used to make purchases and help offset shipping costs. Checks can be made payable to R-FH Regional High School and delivered or mailed to Jason Lippart, RFH Guidance Office, 74 Ridge Road, Rumson, NJ 07760. All donations must be received by November 2.
The RFH Character Education Club centers on enhancing the character of the school community through leadership, education, and involvement. The Evolve Education Program is dedicated to providing the children of Long Branch with educational assistance and enrichment activities.
