RFH Increases Its Profile in Public High School Rankings Lists
Released by Newsweek and by U.S. News and World Report
Rumson — Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School has once again been recognized as an outstanding public high school by Newsweek and by U.S. News and World Report.
RFH has increased its profile in both of the recently-released lists, which are heavily-researched and highly-regarded.
Newsweek placed RFH at number 269 in its list of the top 2,000 U.S. high schools. RFH was ranked number 394 in last year’s list.
U.S. News and World Report ranked RFH number 17 out of 395 public high schools in New Jersey, up from number 28 last year.
The Newsweek list highlights the best public high schools in the nation, based on the schools’ effectiveness in producing college-ready graduates.
The Newsweek ranking is based on six components — graduation rates, college acceptance rates, average SAT(Scholastic Aptitude Test) /ACT(American College Testing) scores, AP(Advanced Placement)/IB(International Baccalaureate)/AICE(Advanced International Certificate of Education) tests taken per student, AP/IB/AICE scores, and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course.
Newsweek reports a 100% graduation rate for RFH, with 95% of graduates bound for college. The average SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) score for RFH is reported as 1764 out of a possible 2400 points, and the average score on AP exams is 3.7 out of a possible 5.
U.S. News and World Report joined forces with the Washington, D.C.-based American Institute for Research to compile its list. Data was collected on more than 21,000 public schools from forty nine states and the District of Columbia. The schools were then evaluated based on students’ performance on state-mandated assessments as well as other factors that determine the degree to which students are prepared for college-level work.
According to figures released in the U.S. News and World Report rankings, the RFH results for college readiness and Advanced Proficiency in Math and Language were well above the average for New Jersey high schools.
