RFH Girls’ Soccer Players Make an Impact
Both On and Off the Field
Players Volunteered at Habitat for Humanity Warehouse
Prior to Winning NJSIAA Group II Championship
Rumson — The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School girls’ soccer team has taken plenty of road trips recently, and they have paid off handsomely.
The team is enjoying a stellar season, with a record of 14-7-1. They captured their first NJSIAA Central Group Title since 2008 by defeating Delran High School with a score of 3-1 on Thursday, November 14.
But soccer was not foremost on the players’ minds during a road trip on November 8. Altruism was the thought for the day as they visited the Habitat for Humanity Warehouse in Long Branch, New Jersey.
There they spent two hours organizing supplies collected through Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts. The girls’ task was to make the process of selecting items easier for area residents looking to rebuild and restore their homes.
“I am so proud of my players for dedicating their time and effort to this project,” said RFH Varsity Soccer Head Coach Mary Beth Coleman. “This group works just as hard to assist others as they do when they are on the soccer field.”
In the NJSIAA Group II matchup against Delran, junior forward Janie DeVito scored the first goal for RFH near the middle of the first half. Senior midfield player Schuyler DeBree then added two goals, one late in the first half and the other early in the second half, to clinch a decisive victory.
The RFH team will face West Deptford in the Group II semifinals at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19. The game will be held at St. Augustine College Preparatory School in Richland, New Jersey.
The RFH girls’ varsity soccer players are Schuyler DeBree, Allie Cuje, Janie DeVito, Anna Finn, Caitlin Griffith, Kaitlyn Hess, Meagan McGurl, Lindsay McKean, Olivia Rosenberg, Michaela Borneo, Lindsey Corydon, Allie Geiger, Emma Gill, Caroline Kostecky, Jacqueline Littleson, Morgan Mulligan, Samantha Beaudreault, Catie Clark, Grace Forsyth, and Hanna LoSavio.
Assistant Coaches are Donna Dini and Jeff Herkimer.
