Costa Rican Clothing Drive
October 23rd, 2012
When a recent earthquake caused devastation in the country of Costa Rica, members of the International Club at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School were quick to heed the call for help. They discovered that items of apparel were desperately needed, so they responded by organizing a clothing drive at the high school. As a result, 50 large parcels of clothing will soon be shipped to the residents of Costa Rica.
With the help of community volunteer Ann Rossbach and Club Advisor Yannel Maglione, a World Language Teacher at RFH, International Club members set up collection bins at the high school and publicized the event. They are now in the process of sorting and packaging the many items contributed by their fellow students and local residents.
Mrs. Maglione commended International Club President Katie Veasey, Vice President Kristen Sullivan, Secretary Christine Ginalis, Historian Jourdan Lenskold and all the participating members as well as the local community for the success of the project. “We are so grateful for everyone’s generosity and we know that the clothing collected will go to good use,” she said.
