Rumson – The RFH Global Women Empowerment student organization and the RFH baseball team have once again worked together to support Change a Life Uganda (CALU). The second annual Home Run Derby was held on April 29th and raised over $3,000 in donations from the local community.

CALU President Jean Semler attended the event to educate the community and to assist with the sale of goods created by Ugandan women. All of the funds raised at the event will be used to support the continued education of girls in Uganda.

55 RFH students and members of the community competed in the Home Run Derby, and trophies were distributed to the top three scorers in each division. First-place winners were Lucas Gaus (Six and Under), Kellen Winters and Eve Maulshagen (Tied, Seven-Eight Years Old), Jonathan Lauria (Nine-Twelve Years Old), Johnathan Lauria (High School) and Chris Shaw (Adult).

The Home Run Derby was made possible in part by generous donations from RFH parents as well as local businesses Booskerdoo, Cups and Cakes, and Mr. Pizza Slice.

“We would like to congratulate all of the participants and thank the community for such a tremendous event,” said Women Global Empowerment Club Advisor Hilary Strauch. “We’re looking forward to next year!” For more information about Change A Life Uganda, visit www.changealifeuganda.org.
