RFHRHS Initiates Summer Academic Enrichment Program

Two week program offers exciting courses for students
RFHRHS students have a new option to consider this summer. There is a wide variety of academic and enrichment courses available that are exciting and stimulating. Some of the courses are offered to satisfy specific remedial needs, and others are aimed at particular student interests to enhance the RFH learning experience.
Algebra I Refresh will give entering ninth graders a ‘jump-start’ as they enter high school. There are SAT Prep courses in both Verbal and Math areas. STEP, Student Teambuilding Enrichment Program is offered for incoming ninth graders to help make the transition to high school a positive experience. Time will be spent on self-awareness, self –esteem, time management, communication skills, written/oral expression and conflict resolution. College Applications 101 is a class devoted to helping upcoming seniors navigate the college application process. Those who would like to learn to touch type can improve their keyboard skills by taking Keyboarding Before Boogie Boarding!
Courses such as Physics Olympics, Math-Action, Outdoor Organism Adventures, Explore the World of Astronomy and Pre-Engineering will give science and math students an exciting way to keep their skills sharp over the summer. Comida-Cinema-Cultura will explore Spanish customs and traditions and how they reflect the cultures of their countries. There will be movies, food and fun for students who are studying Spanish. There is a course that will investigate the history of investing and one on nutrition and lifestyle choices that can help health and wellness as well as a course in stress management. Rounding out the offerings are 1950’s Counter Culture in American Poetry, Arts and Music and Music Recording & Production with DJ Grill-Z!, which will give hands-on experience in music creation.
The RFHRHS Summer Enrichment program is being offered from July 11-21 on Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 am-11:30 am. Applications are available on the RFH website (www.rfhrhs.org ) under “Summer Academic Enrichment Program” and should be submitted to the RFH Main Office by April 28, 2011. The cost of each course is $200.00 plus the cost of field trips, if applicable.
