2017 Application proposal 

Senior Project can be used to fulfill the 5 credit NJ state graduation requirement for Career Education (NJAC 6A:8-5.1(a)2/1)
Minimum hours required at the approved location are dependent on the credit option chosen.

The Senior Project is an opportunity for seniors to create a more effective, enhanced senior year experience, while maintaining an appropriate academic course load.  Participation in the program is optional; Students are required to have parent permission to participate and are responsible for their own transportation and any costs accrued.  

Any student interested in Senior Project must complete the Senior Project packet, available from Mrs. Swift and select the appropriate course number on their Power School Course Selection.

 

Students may choose one of the following programs:

Senior Internship:

Students may opt to spend part of their day in senior year in a career focused position.  Students will be required to find their own position and have it approved by the Senior Project Coordinator.  Quarterly papers and signed, weekly time sheets will be turned in each marking period and a presentation will be completed at the conclusion of the program.  Examples may include business, fashion, real estate, medical profession, the arts, and various trades of interest to the student.  

Service Learning:

Seniors are offered an opportunity to conclude their high school experience by providing volunteer services to the community and/or civic organizations.  Possible community and civic opportunities include shelters, libraries, political organizations, youth groups and churches/synagogues. All hours will be done within the same setting.  Students will maintain a personal journal and will present their final conclusions to the Senior Project Panel.

 

Option A = 15  Credits;      Course # 2003;      Scheduled Release periods 7-9.

  • Students will take  English, PE, Lunch (unless waived for another academic course) plus 3 other courses at RFH in periods 1-6

  • Journals will be maintained, and Quarterly reports must be written

  • Signed weekly Time Sheets for a minimum of 10.5 hours per week

  • End of the year presentation to the Senior Project Panel

  • Grade will be included in GPA

 

Option B = 10  Credits;      Course # 2005;      Scheduled Release periods 8-9.

  • Students will take  English, PE, Lunch (unless waived for another academic course) plus 4 other courses at RFH in periods 1-7

  • Journals will be maintained, and Quarterly reports must be written

  • Signed weekly Time Sheets for a minimum of 7 hours per week

  • End of the year presentation to the Senior Project Panel

  • Grade will be included in GPA

 

Option C = 5 Credits;        Course # 002006;       No Schedule Adjustment/ release p9

 

  • Period 9, with no additional release time

  • Journals will be maintained, and Quarterly reports must be written

  • Signed Time Sheets for a minimum of 3.5  hours per week

  • End of the year presentation to the: Senior Project Panel

  • Grade will be included in GPA

2017-2018 Important Dates will be published prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year

 

2016-2017  Important Dates

Reports due each quarter- Due dates Nov 3, January 19, Q3 and Q4 TBD.
Journals will be maintained
Signed time sheets submitted every 2 weeks for a minimum of 12.5  hours per week  Q1 wk beginning 9/6.
