Fed Challenge is a competition against other high schools in the New York Federal Reserve district. The High School Fed Challenge is a competition designed to bring real-world economics into the classroom. Teams play the role of monetary policymakers by analyzing economic conditions and recommending a course for monetary policy. Students will compete in the Fed Challenge Competition, which takes place at the NY Fed in March or April.  Fed Challenge pursues the following goals:

  • Increase the awareness and the understanding of the Federal Reserve’s economic role among students, teachers, and the public.
  • Develop students’ research, cooperation, presentation, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Promote interest in economics, not only as a subject for undergraduate and postgraduate study, but as the basis for a career.
  • Foster a closer relationship between schools and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
