National Honor Society

Senior and junior students at Rumson-Fair Haven are eligible to be considered for membership in the National Honor Society by attaining the minimum GPA requirement as follows:

Any student graduating in the years 2025, 2026, or 2027 must meet a minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 3.67 or better.

Any student graduating in or after the year 2028 will need to meet the updated minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 4.0 or better.
Academically eligible students must then meet the requirements of character, leadership, and service, submitting candidate forms for evaluation by a standing committee. Members of the society perform service-oriented functions as requested. Once inducted, members must complete a minimum of 15 hours of service and 15 hours of leadership each year.
National Honor Society
The application is open to all senior and junior students who have maintained the cumulative weighted minimum GPA (of 3.67 or higher for students graduating in 2025, 2026, or 2027 and of 4.0 for students graduating in 2028 or beyond) at RFH. Please direct all questions to the advisors of the RFH Chapter of the National Honor Society, Mrs. Julie Brewington and Ms. Jaclyn Toner (jbrewington@rumsonfairhaven.org and jtoner@rumsonfairhaven.org ).
Requirements for membership application:

Students must be a senior or junior and maintain a minimum cumulative weighted GPA as described above.

In the case of transfer students, students must be a junior or senior and complete at least 1 full semester at RFH

Students must prove an average of 15 hours per year of both leadership and service. Rising seniors should have a minimum total of 45 hours each and rising juniors should have a minimum total of 30 hours each by the deadline for submission of the application.

Students should have no record of academic dishonesty.

Students should maintain an untarnished character. Students cannot have a record of external and/or internal suspension.

Students must complete the application form by the deadline. Applications must be accompanied by a separate digital signature form by the adult sponsor verifying the description and the total number of hours completed. The adult sponsors will receive a response receipt upon completion of the form.

Applications must be submitted in full by Friday, September 6th at 4:00 PM.

Approval and induction into the RFH chapter of the National Honor Society will be based on a review of these criteria by a selection committee of teachers at RFH.

Approval will take place in October.

Induction will take place in the spring.

Students must maintain the minimum cumulative weighted GPA as described above.

Students must complete 15 hours of service and 15 hours of leadership each year of membership.

Students must attend 75% of all NHS meetings.

A student may be dismissed if she/he/they violates the standards, obligations, or ideals of the National Honor Society.
